Since 2001, Jeffrey M. Wilkins has served as managing partner of Wilkins Associates, a privately held investment management firm, which provides strategic management consulting services and advises on mergers and acquisitions for growth-oriented companies.
Recent projects include The Ohio State University, where Wilkins was engaged first as a consultant on technology commercialization. His work led to a term as President and Chief Executive Officer of UMC Partners, a company he helped form to cultivate business development opportunities utilizing science and research originating from the OSU Medical Center.
Wilkins served as CEO and chairman of the board of Metatec International, Inc., a company he founded in 1985, until December 2001. Metatec became a leading CD-ROM manufacturing company and value-added supply chain services company, reaching over $100 million in annual revenue.
Prior to founding Metatec, Wilkins founded CompuServe, Inc. and served as the company’s CEO from 1969 to 1985. As CompuServe’s leader, he initiated the global emergence of online information services to personal computer owners and other businesses, including a nationwide telecommunications network for data transmission, the first full-service electronic mail system for business, and custom computer application services to organizations in a variety of markets and industries.
Wilkins recently served on the board of directors of Checkfree Corporation, one of the nation’s leading providers of financial electronic commerce services and products (NASDAQ: CKFR), until its sale in December, 2007. He currently serves on the board of OncoImmune, a drug development company, Xcelerate Media, an e-learning company, Caster Connection, Accel Inc., and on the advisory boards for Navigator Management Partners, Reservoir Venture Partners, The Fishel Company, RivetDigital, and Health Care . Public company boards on which he has previously served include Bank One of Columbus, N.A.; H&R Block, Inc.; Liebert Corporation; Cardinal Health, Inc.; Accuray Corporation; Midland Mutual Life Insurance; and The Holophane Corporation. During his tenure as a director of these companies, he has participated and advised on numerous acquisition and sale transactions.As an active community leader, Wilkins has served the boards of The Wellington School, TechColumbus, CIVIC, the Columbus Chamber, and the Center of Science and Industry. Wilkins holds a bachelors and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Arizona. Wilkins resides in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Julie. |
