Sheila Aekins, PHR, Human Resources Manager
Sheila Aekins is an accomplished and respected human resources leader recognized for aligning HR strategy with business goals within professional services. Aekins has experience building successful HR infrastructures for startups and emerging organizations. As Health Care DataWorks’ Human Resources Manager she is dedicated and focused on developing and delivering progressive solutions and support to HCD’s most valuable assets, its employees.
Aekins 12+ years in the IT industry include the role of Human Resources Manager at Rolta TUSC (formerly WhittmanHart). During her tenure, Aekins established a recruiting process which included a strategic understanding of the business and resource needs, branding, a clear communication plan, a defined process and strong customer service which resulted in establishing credibility with candidates, leadership, and vendors.
Prior to her years at Rolta TUSC, Aekins was the HR Generalist Manager for Divine (former marchFIRST). In this role Aekins was responsible for change management due to a merger, two acquisitions and RIFs. In addition, Aekins advised leadership and management on performance issues and provided consultation and aid to mitigate and/or avoid risk. Aekins also proactively identified employee needs, concerns and issues and communicated to leadership as well as provided recommendations of possible solutions and plans to prevent future problems.
Aekins plays a significant leadership role in the Central Ohio HR professional community. She was the 2011 President of Human Resource Association of Central Ohio (HRACO) a non-profit chartered chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and as Past President currently serves in an advisory role. Aekins has also served on the HR Advisory Board and Board of Directors for Vision & Vocational Services.
